Double Crochet Decrease (dc2tog, dc3tog)

UK term:  Double Crochet Together

UK abbreviation:  dc2tog, dc3tog, etc

USA term:  Single Crochet Together

USA abbreviation:  sc2tog, sc3tog, etc

Notes:
When working dc (USA sc) stitches decreases can either be made by missing out or 'skipping' stitches or by working a multiple number of stitches together.

Tutorial (2dctog):

1.  Start as usual, by inserting the hook into the stitch and wrapping the yarn around the hook.
2.  Pull the yarn through but do not complete the stitch.
3.  Instead, insert the hook into the next stitch and wrap the yarn around the hook.

4.  Pull the yarn through and you will now have 3 loops on your hook.
5.  To complete the stitch, wrap the yarn around the hook and pull through the 3 already on the hook.
6.This completes the dc2tog (USA sc2tog).
7.  The decrease has now been made and 2 stitches have now been reduced down to 1.

Tutorial (3dctog):

1.  After step 4 above, insert the hook into the next stitch, wrap the yarn over the hook and pull through.  You will now have 4 loops on your hook.
2.  To complete the stitch, wrap the yarn over the hook and pull through the 4 loops already on the hook.
3.  This completes the dc3tog (USA sc3tog) and 3 stitches have been reduced down to 1.
